I have an exciting update to share with you now that I've finally got around to writing a post about it!
We were recently asked to do a commission for a lovely little start up magazine called Bravery Magazine. It was such a wonderful project for me to work on because their concept is based around strong female role models for children and each issue highlights a brave woman and a trait she embodies. The entire magazine is to help teach children about the life, work, and contributions of the woman they are featuring. Each issue includes beautiful illustrations, stories, fun DIY's, and educational activities. Bravery serves as a resource parents can use to help teach their girls and boys about real, brave women who have done real, brave things.
The first issue was all based on Jane Goodall, a British primatologist and anthropologist who travelled to the Gombe Stream National Park to study Chimpanzee's and is considered the world's leading expert on them after a 55 year study of social and family interactions of chimpanzees in the wild.
Bravery commissioned a number of independent artists to fill the pages of the magazine and I was one of the lucky few to be selected for the very first issue. Our map of Africa featured a zoomed in section to show Tanzania & the Gombe forest where Jane travelled to for her studies and was really well received. Bravery ran an incredibly successful Kickstarter campaign to get set up and are now moving on to their second issue. It makes a lovely keepsake for anyone with children as the print quality is exceptional. If you would like to buy one you can find them here.
If you are looking to commission a map for your next project please get in touch I'd love to be involved!
